A message from our Track Owner
I want to thank everybody who joined us yesterday afternoon on Facebook Live. One of my comments that I made yesterday may have gotten lost in translation. I want to correct that immediately so there is no grey area as it relates to our rules and our tech garage.
Yesterday in an effort to make everyone feel welcome, I said do not come here worrying about if you’re going to pass or fail inspection. It is not our goal to throw anybody out, or to show them the exit. It is 100% my goal for everybody to come here with the attitude, “We are part of the solution and won’t be part of the problem”.
I promise each and every one of you that we look at you as partners of Speedway, and we want you to be here for the next 10 years as part of the solution.
In 2025 during my evaluation period of our track, most of you made it clear to me that there was a major problem with rules and that they hadn’t been enforced at this track on a constructive, or consistent basis… Well, they are going to be enforced now, and they are going to be enforced for the next 10 years. As it relates to the fundamentals of our rules, you either pass or you fail, it’s just that simple.
So, this is as clear as it can possibly get. There will not be any grey area, if you fail, we will be very transparent in why you failed. Look at it this way, if you were among the 95% of competitors who showed up here with a completely legal race car, you are part of the solution. If you are amongst the 5% that show up trying to get away with something, then you absolutely fit the category of being part of the problem, part of the problem that’s existed in the past, part of the problem that eroded confidence at this racetrack.
Stan Meserve and Derek Mingo have received very clear and succinct expectations from me as it relates to changing the tracks image and changing the tracks culture. “Embrace the people who are part of the solution, eliminate the people who are part of the problem”.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for our test and tune on May 2nd. I look forward to connecting with all of you and welcoming you to “Our Track” on June 6th.
Sincerely,
Richard Alan Craven
